3 Books Hitting the Big Screen this 2015

It seems like a lot of cinematic adaptations of books are set to hit the movie theatres this year. So if you’ve put “reading more books” on your list of things to do, why not check out some of the bestsellers before they hit the big screen? Here are three movies coming out in 2015 that first made their appearance as part of book trilogies.

50 Shades of Grey by E.L. James

50 Shades of Grey is a 2011 erotic romance novel by British author E.L James, and the first installment in the Fifty Shades Trilogy. The book follows the deepening relationship between college student Anastasia Steele and enigmatic business magnate Christian Grey. The movie version, which stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornam, hit the big screen on February 13, 2015.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Insurgent is the second book in Veronica Roth’s Divergent Trilogy released in 2012. The sequel continues the story of Tris Prior and the dystopian post-apocalyptic version of Chicago. Following the events of the previous novel, a war now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. Tris and Four are on the run from Jeanine Matthews, the leader of the Erudite faction. While trying to save the people that she loves, Tris faces various challenges as she unlocks the truth about the past and ultimately the future of her world. The movie, starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet, is set to be released on March 20, 2015.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Mockingjay (2010) is the final installment in Suzanne Collin’s popular Hunger Games trilogy following The Hunger Games (2008) and Catching Fire (2009). The book concludes the story of Katniss Everdeen’s struggle to unify the districts of Panem in their rebellion against the corrupt Capitol from within District 13. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson and other cast members will reprise their roles in the adaptation, the second half of the movie which will be released on November 20, 2015.
