Do you know how to nae nae?
This crazy dance trend is actually pretty easy to perform. It just involves a simple four-count, with the rest in freestyle. A hiphop group from Atlanta called We Are Toonz created the dance step back in 2013, and it had gone viral last year through Vine.
This year, however, it has taken over the internet, especially with the song “Watch Me” by breakout artist Silento. A lot of sports stars have been seen nae-naeing, including Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard, and more recently, Riley Curry, the adorable daughter of NBA star Steph Curry.
Even Jennifer Lopez has gotten into the trend! Her music video “I Luh Ya PaPi” shows her nae-naeing with gusto.
One of the most popular videos this summer, however, is not from a celebrity, but from a pregnant mom and her daughter doing the nae nae. It was pretty adorable, and the internet agreed too, with over 22 million views at this time.
So how do you do the nae nae?
- First, do “the rock.” This involves you moving from side to side, leg and body bouncing. This is the foundation of the nae nae.
- Next, raise one of your hands while dropping the other down to your hip.
- Finally, with your hands in the same position, while rocking from side to side, hit your nae nae!
It’s really easy, isn’t it? This summer, gather your friends for a nice barbecue on the lawn, turn up the music, and do the nae nae.
