What better way to face the New Year head-on than with a brand new look? Here are a few makeover trends you might want to consider to start the year in style:
1. Tress to impress
If you have short hair, you might want to consider growing your locks out this year. The Spring 2015 collection saw long hair making a serious comeback. Whether it’s worn in sleek ponytails, slicked back, in carefree, barely-there waves, accented with braids and twists, or decorative accessories, length is the key, according to Harper’s Bazaar.
2. Get a new hue
The New Year calls for a new hue! According to Redbook, the biggest haircolor trends for 2015 include strong streaks, babylights, softer reds, deep browns and icy tones (think silver, light violet and blue tints).
3. Wine and dine
Use the two-year rule for clothes. Sell old clothes to a thrift store or donate them to those in need. Getting rid of space in your closet gives you an excuse to fill it up with new, trendier clothes over the year. Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2015 is Marsala, “a naturally robust and earthy wine red,” so you might want to inject a few pieces in this shade.
Ditch the clogged mascara wands, thick foundation and expired cosmetics in your makeup bag. According to Vogue’s Beauty Guide, make-up trends of the season gravitate towards the natural, minimalist and bare-faced with a “sweaty post-workout flush” as your best feature. Accent your look with graphic eyeliner, and high-impact lips in rich berry tones.
