The Memorial Day holiday weekend official kicks-off of the summer season. As the first warm long weekend in months, most people will be heading to the beaches, or celebrating with backyard barbecues and picnics in the park. Washington DC

Pay tribute to unidentified soldiers interred at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery, then catch the annual National Memorial Day Parade of veterans, military units, floats, balloons, and marching bands. If you come the night before, you can also catch the annual free National Memorial Day Concert at the Capitol’s West Lawn.
